Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

We want everyone who visits the garden, in person or online, to feel at home. Here is what this website does and doesn’t do with your information. The short version: very little.

Who we are

This is the website of New Horizons Garden, the community garden at the corner of S. Central Park Blvd and W. Van Buren Street on Chicago’s West Side. The garden is coordinated by Ms. Erma Purnell and the Rev. Celeste Grace Groff. If you have a question about this policy or about your information, call or text Celeste at (312) 967-6785, or write to us at 425 S. Central Park Blvd., Chicago, IL 60624.

What we collect

This website has no forms, sign-ups, comments, visitor accounts or advertising. We don’t use analytics, so we don’t track which pages you visit.

If you call or text Celeste, we use your name, number and message only to answer you and help you get involved in the garden. We don’t share them with anyone else.

Security and server logs

To protect the site from spam and attacks, our security tools and our website host keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. These logs are used only to keep the site safe and working.

Cookies

This site doesn’t set cookies for visitors. The people who look after our website get a cookie that keeps them logged in while they work on it. The Google map on our About page may set Google’s own cookies (see below).

The map on our About page

Our About page shows a Google map so you can find the garden. When the map loads, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may set cookies, as on any Google website. If you open the map in Google Maps or ask for directions, you’re using Google’s service directly. Google’s privacy policy applies to the map. If you’d rather not use it, our address is written out just above the map.

Fonts, photos and links

The fonts and photos on this site come from our own website, not from other services. We link to friends of the garden, such as First Church of the Brethren and the Chicago Community Gardeners Association. When you follow a link, that website’s own privacy policy applies.

How we use information, and how long we keep it

We use information only to keep this website safe and working and to answer you when you get in touch. We never sell or rent anyone’s information. Security and server logs are kept for a short time and then deleted automatically. We keep your messages only as long as they help us stay in touch with you about the garden.

Children

Kids are welcome at the garden. This website doesn’t ask anyone for personal information, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by calling or texting Celeste at (312) 967-6785. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; this site works fine without them.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, we’ll update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
